Outline of course content:
This primarily practical course will enable you to develop your powers of observation and analysis, as well as giving you the opportunity to experiment with techniques and materials in a personal way.
All courses are supported by regular visits to museums and galleries and practising artists’ studios to enhance the understanding of the historical and current trends within this area.
We also bring in specialist Art and Design practitioners to run workshops and have exhibitions of their work.
The specifications encourage a broad approach, which allows students to develop a sound grounding in a number of areas while still exploring the subject in depth.
It is expected that students will follow a broad course for AS and work in a more focused area for A level.
Course combines well with: English, History, Design and Technology, Media Studies, Music, Languages, Psychology and Sociology, Geography, Sciences for students who wish to pursue Architecture/Environmental design, Product Design or Landscape Architecture, or work in the conservation of artefacts.
