Standard entry requirements

Every student is expected to study four 'AS' Levels or equivalent in Year 12. The majority of students will then drop one of these subjects after the first year and receive an 'AS' certificate, and of course the associated UCAS points for University application. You will then go on to complete three 'A' Levels at the end of Year 13.

We would expect students to have achieved grade 'B' or better at GCSE in the subjects that you hope to take at 'AS' or 'A2' Level.

We would also normally expect background grades of at least four 'B's and two 'C's. To include C grade or higher in English and Mathematics

This tariff applies to most course options. However, some subject combinations do not require this. For example, a student hoping to secure a place on a foundation Art Degree may apply for Applied Art and Design Double Award and two other courses. In this case the standard entry requirement need not apply as the student's ability in Art is clearly the key. For this reason every student who applies to the Sixth Form will be personally interviewed to discuss their plans and potential subject mix. Every interview will be with a senior member of the Twynham Staff team.

As well as meeting the academic requirements, we are looking for students who show ambition, are likely to embrace the special culture of our Sixth Form and have the inclination to give as well as receive.

Should the interview be successful then an offer will be made stating the entry requirements. We are likely to be oversubscribed and it is therefore essential that you work hard to make sure that you meet the entry requirement that is given to you following your interview.
