We are now all on our way home. To be able to get home as quickly as possible we had to divide the group into three, so Mr Schuring and Ms Coffin have already departed with the first group; Ms Hurst-Levy is, as I write this, flying to Auckland and then on to Singapore and the UK with the second group and I will be leaving with the last group tomorrow morning.
The picture shows the last two groups after visiting a driving range and mini-golf for the morning. The missing students are those who are already on their way home plus Connor who had disappeared into the toilet!
Spirits are high and we are all so pleased to be on our way. The Kiwi families have been so helpful and understanding making this unplanned, extended stay as easy as possible for everyone concerned. The Sister Cities Committee have also been wonderful and came up with the funds to enable the students to take part in additional activities, such as visiting the wildlife park, the golf, using the City Tour Tram and Gondola all for free. Linwood College have also been superb in making sure that the programme has continued and in looking after us. I am also so grateful for the families of our students being able to come to Heathrow to meet everyone and being able to take us home as our various flights arrive.
We all hope to back in school very soon.
